THE SOUND OF BELLS - SOUND GUIDE APP is a location-based audio guide that invites visitors to listen to bell chimes, interviews with bell ringers, and religious celebrations in the open air. The app uses GPS technology to guide users through historic churches in nine cities across Minas Gerais, Brazil.
By reviving the disappearing soundscapes of Minas Gerais’ towns, the app offers new layers of meaning to the visitor’s experience and enhances their connection to Brazil’s intangible cultural heritage.
The application serves as an innovative tool for cultural tourism in the region, allowing visitors to explore not only the visual architecture of historic churches but also their sonic heritage.

Award: WSA Mobile Brazil Prize, in the Culture & Tourism category. The award spans over 170 countries and was launched in 2003 during the UN World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva.
