RED SKIES (CÉU VERMELHO)

Multichannel video installation and expanded documentary
2022

RED SKIES (CÉU VERMELHO) is an expanded documentary and multi-channel video installation that merges artistic practice and social engagement. This site-specific exhibition explores the deeply personal and collective experience of breast cancer, investigating its social, medical, and emotional landscapes through an artistic lens.
Rooted in the intersection of aesthetics and political inquiry, RED SKIES critically examines archival medical imagery and projections of femininity, while amplifying women's voices in the dialogue on health, embodiment, and representation. The installation unfolds across twelve video works, interconnecting visuals of volcanic eruptions, diagnostic scans, personal letters, and whispered testimony. It invites viewers to reflect on the fragility and strength of the female body within contexts of illness and healing.

The film arises from an urgent desire for life... How to live after a cancer diagnosis? How to narrate disease beyond tragedy or victory? RED SKIES is a way of sculpting that unknown.
